why do images I work tediously on - and which look GREAT on my monitor and when printed - look like s**t when I upload them to my portfolio on G1??? I know about converting anything online to sRGB but even the clarity suffers! Somebody tell me what I'm missing please! Thanks.

Have you verified that they are indeed in sRGB? THere was a long time I thought mine were but weren't and looked horrible.

spyder pro or spyder2 pro now I guess. A good system to calibrate monitor, scanner, and printer. I use it and love it.

Is your monitor calibrated? How old is your monitor? Unless we both use the same calibration tool we will never see the same image exactly. Then going to the internet is a different issue too. I am not an expert but in my investigations, I have decided to only worry about my final out put and let the rest fall where ever it does.

Can you compare how you did the ones you don't like to your images of Kayti / crystal fashion / ginger - I think those look very good in your portfolio

I do think that the B&W images seem the worst , what that means , I do not know

Do you meet the specs for posting , if you end up with a larger file the site software might do something to shrink it again ( does the new site even do that anymore ?? )

I personally never use the 'save for web'
I do use a fuji S3 and use sRGB all the time , so I don't convert mine. but I used to have a D100 and I used to post them adobeRGB without converting , Don't think thats the problem

Are you shrinking the originals by percentages or pixel size ?
if pixel size are you using the right porportions ?
For Example :
11 x 14 = 471 x 600
9 x 11 = 491 x 600
8 x 12 = 400 x 600
8 x 10 = 480 x 600

Just some things to think about , I don't know what I'm talking about
