the dj aside, there was some interesting things happening on that set, especially the lighting.

all that really hot and intense backlighting was coming from HMIs. the highlights (from the HMIs) looked all blown-out on the video because there wasn't enough continuous light coming from the front (for the video). instead, the backlighting was balanced with strobes (for key and fill) from the front. interestingly, the key light looked to me like a ringflash that was mounted on a boom. there's a couple of quick shots in the clip that show the boom-mounted ringflash being moving as the model moved. the fill also looked like a ringflash, but mounted on a stationary stand. if anyone sees the finished images, i'll bet the edgelights won't be anywhere near as "hot"

When I downloaded the video, Norton picked up and blocked a worm that may have been trying come through. It may have been from an email that was just downloading at the same time (although I show no new emails). But a word to the wise, keep your anti-virus software updated and active when surfing these commercial sites.

And on a related subject (Jimmy is soooo jaded, it's Carmen Electra and Jimmy is looking at the lights!), I recently received an email from Alien Bee letting me know that their new ring light is finishing Beta testing and should be available "soon".
