I attended a birthday party for a friend of my girlfriend who was turning 21. I brought my camera and gear with me, one for the experience, and two because otherwise the only pictures are on 20 different point-and-shoots and most suck. anyways, i ended up being deputized by this girl's mother to be the official photographer for the event. it was fun and i got about 700 images in 5 hours.

my question is...i am going to process the images and put them up in a secret gallery on my website for the attendees of the party to view. is it bad form to watermark the images with my logo? i know noone will be stealing them and the resolution i will be offering will be too low to print anything from...but i like knowing that my images are tagged and noone can question where they came from. plus it might draw more traffic when other look at them. so is it wrong to stamp them all? thanks.

It's NEVER, EVER bad form to watermark and copyright your images on a website or anywhere else.

No it's not wrong to stamp them all, especially since you basically worked for 5 hours. My only recommendation would be to keep the watermark subtle. Big, bold logos plastered all over the images from an event like this where you weren't hired to shoot can make you seem a little full of yourself. These were friends of a sort, not clients.

I wouldnt watermark them...Just the same way i dont watermark shots I take with a point and shoot when im out. Although, if what u want is all kinds of traffic to your website in hopes of MAYBE getting something out of it...which i highly doubt it.
