I started by going to a workshop. Lighting instuction, intro to working with models and a lot of practice shooting. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I'm still not terribly experienced, but shooting lots and playing with light set ups is giving me confidence and better results. Also, working with some experienced models has been a big help.

Hi Tony

this place is better than most for getting tips and info. Have a look at www.swpp.co.uk for training courses. You can join but can also attend courses as a non member. I am constantly looking at others web sites, a lot of them from here, for ideas and inspiration. Also magazines and books. After that there is no replacemnt for taking photo's!!! lol. friends and relatives are a good start.

Pete

This place is a start.

I saw on your other thread that you are not a complete beginner, so we know you have the basics of photography down.

Books, camera clubs and workshops are a good starting point too but the best advice that can be given is shoot/critique, shoot/critique and then shoot some more.

Good luck to you and welcome to G1.

Rick D.
