OK this may sound like a super dumb question....but where are the good beaches around LA to shoot? You know places where's there a little bit of privacy, decent sand and scenery, decent light (I'll be doing the golden hour thing in the evening).

Also, are permits necessary? What about topless/nude shoots? Are some places OK with that or do I have to go to specific beaches?

Background:
I'll be heading out there for a week with my favourite model and muse - Sabrina Starr. We're looking for beach areas to shoot and we'll try that cracked ground earth place north of LA that I think JimmyD suggested. Plus I'm looking for other cool locations - so drop me a line via PM or e-mail.

Thanks, Art.

Being a former LA beach shooter I can say that most of the beaches are extremely crowded and offer no privacy. Also be prepared to travel a long distance by car and foot just to find the perfect beach. The one beach that I used to shoot at on a regular basis where photography was allowed was Tablerock in Laguna. However, there is no privacy on that beach.

I hope that helps.
