When I went to photograph Kori Rae at Jimmy D's last Friday my first two set ups were designed to shoot in a Jimmy D style, then a JT style and then the rest of the night in my own "style" (if I even have one)

I'm not Jimmy D, nor am I a JT so I can only mimic their style. Can you tell which is which? If not you haven't been paying attention. Comments are always appreciated.

Why not post your copycats?

Rick D.

In order Jimmy (although not a great mimic in my eye), JT and then you. You did a nice JT. Good work, AMigo.

Amigo:

Hows the job going? The only change I made to Jimmys set up was to take out the amber gels because Kori didn't like the way it made her hair look. Like I said, "I'm no Jimmy D."

Is it just me or does that particular lighting and pose in no. 3 make the model look overly plump?

I'm thinking a grid spot to the right of the model for a little contour edge lighting to fix that black hole behind her left arm.

Now THAT was easy

as for JD, I recognize his style instantly.
(Mola, fill reflector, small softbox as hairlight - and normally more striplight)

As I have never visited HTL etc. I do not know what makes JT's portraits so great. Could you explain the setup / light ratios / makeup / pose / post processing ?

TIA
Peter
