I make no money from this post. I hope I'm not breaking a rule but this was very interesting and I thought I would share.
At about 4:30 PDT I saw a posting on another forum that showed the 1Ds Mk II Canon for $3999.

I ordered one, for that price, wow.

I then called feeling iffy because the part number changed to a 1D Mk II N which is a reasonable price for that camera body.

A very nice person named Jennifer assured me that the description in my email was incorrect and that this was indeed the 1Ds Mk II, Not the 1D Mk II N. I explained to her that the 1Ds Mk II (still listed at this time) is a $6899 - $7999 camera depending on where you get it in the US. She said she'd gone to a supervisor on a previous call and they are certain it's a 1Ds Mk II
So I'm waiting for mine to arrive with overnight shipping, says it'll be here 6/27.

I guess I'll see what happens. I was just about to order a 5D with the rebate offers that are out there but now I guess not.

If the 1D Mk II N comes i'll return it, but not make too much of a big deal about it. Seems like a steal though.

Let's hope you got a screamin deal! Too bad Apple isn't having a super sale on a D2Xs?

I would expect that by now you know that it was indeed the 1Dm2N and not the 1Ds2, and apparently they have so many orders (not suprising) that they no longer show the 1Dm2N as being sold. Oh well, joy while it lasted..

From their FAQ:
  1. Where are you located? Are you an US-based company?
ElectroDomi Inc. is an offshore company registered in Gibraltar, with retail locations in Spain and Greece.
  2. What methods of payment are accepted? Why do you not accept Credit Cards or PayPal?
Due to excessive loss caused by fraudulent use of credit cards and PayPal, We have temporarily stopped accepting those methods of payment. Therefore, at this time we are only accepting Western Union Wire Transfer and E-gold for new customers, and returning customers have an option to pay by direct Bank Transfer.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding.
  3. Why don't you offer a toll free 800 phone number?
In order to be efficient, provide great service and for us to have low prices; we must have low overhead. We decided, when we started in 2004, that if we wanted to offer low prices and the best service that we had to "trim" someplace. Not having a toll free phone number keeps our prices lowest. This is the Internet ... you can order by our "toll" free order form method. Also, you can order by e-mail or by fax (+39-066-0513309). You can contact us; ask questions, etc. by emailing us ... "toll free." This keeps our overhead down (your prices down), and we show our most frequently asked questions on each page.
The country code and prefix for their fax machine matches to Rome, Italy. I don't know if it's a scam or not, but If looks like dog poop, smells like dog poop, and tastes like dog poop, it's probably dog poop. I wouldn't be sending them $3800 of my money. If it is legit, I doubt very seriously that it has a warranty that is valid in the U.S.
