Couple more shots of HTL.
Im editing like crazy.
Problem with a big event like HTL is the mountain of editing afterwards.
MUA Stacey Rosas for both shots. Thank you very much Stacey for such a great job.
Regards,
Stu

You never cease to amaze me, Stu. Those are both friggin awesome! Were you using the Porty kit at the pool? And I like the way Candice is posed; almost as if avoiding the hot spot on the wall. Very well done.

Wish I had a Porty
The lights are just my beat up "240" watt Novatrons.
Thanks for the comments.
PS yes there were power outlets at the pool. Just a note for all tho, the lights are dangerous at a water source, wired or battery powered. I positioned mine so if they were knocked or pulled over they would not go into the water.

Great stuff all around.

I like the second shot the best...that is killer.

I'm not so crazy about the blue in the models' eyes in the first shot...seems a bit overdone and unnatural.

hey! let's not bag on Novies. I shoot with Novatrons (monolights, not heads) and i think they're pretty good lights. And if i had a portable power source I'd put them up against porty-potties anytime.

just last week i had one of my Novies up on a boom and, well, to make a long story short, it came crashing down and hit the concret floor. the modeling light broke and the flash tube is half broke but it still fires! granted, it was housed inside a mole 1k baby fresnel, but still it survived about a ten-foot drop!

note I said "beatup" they have taken a lot of punishment. "240" cause the 400 setting doesnt work any more. They have fallen over numerous times and the modeling light has broken and not the flashtube. I have had these lights for about 10 years and I bought them used.

Portys are nice only because they have the battery.

I dont think I will ever get rid of my Novies until they die which probably will be a long time.

Just about everything I do that involves studio is with my Novatrons including these two shots, altho thanks go out to dK and Corey Marcello for the use of their setups at HTL.

I will be moving on to Alien Bees only because of power needs and I want the stepless power increments too. (do new novies have this? I do not know)

Moral of the story, Jimmy is right, dont fear getting Novatrons as your lights, first or not.

i have novatron 300s and 500s. they have two output settings, e.g., the 300s can be fired at 150 or 300 with the flip of a switch. they also have the ability to vary the output (within the gross power settings) with stepless incremental adjustments via a dial.
