Since I haven't seen this book mentioned here before, I thought I'd throw it out here, as it's one I've had for a while, and one I thoroughly enjoy.

If you don't have it yet, y'all might wanna check out the book Outdoor Lighting: Fashion & Glamour. The imagery's more fashion than glamour, but even if you're more glam than fashion, the images are good, and I know anyone can get some great ideas from it. Most all the images have all the technical info you'd expect from a good photo book -- camera, lens, film (yes film! ) -- and other things useful for outdoor photos, like the time of day the image was shot. The book talks about the images in four sections: the brief, the location, composition, and lighting and technique.

"The brief" talks about why the image was taken -- a magazine, a portfolio, etc., and what the image(s) is supposed to accomplish.

"The location" is just that, detailing why that particular location was chosen.

"Composition" discusses why the image "works".

"Lighting and technique" talks about what the image was lit with (daylight only, artificial lights added, etc.) and how it was done.

It's hard to describe why I like this book in particular so much, except for the imagery is really good (did I say that already? ), and it gets you to thinking about timing your shoots for different times of day depending on what you're looking to accomplish.

I dunno, I like it, so you may wanna check it out too.

Do you get any commission from Amazon when people click through the link in your posting, to proceed to buy the book?

[ ] Yes, I do, and I "forgot" to mention that fact when I described the book.

OR --

[ ] No, I don't, and you're a real meanie to ask such a blunt question.

Hehe, nope, I guess I shoulda mentioned I don't get anything from any of this, but Amazon's got more reviews from other readers, and it's usually the first place I think of for ordering books, so that's why I put that link up. And plus I know when I'm looking for stuff online I want it handed to me with as little searching as possible, so that's what I was trying to do for everyone else.
