I'm not sure that this is the correct forum, but I'm going to throw this out as I'm curious to what the collective response is from this group...models and photographers.

Was discussing an upcoming shoot with a woman who is relatively new to the modeling scene. During our discussion she relayed a particularly disturbing TFP shoot that she experienced recently. In short, it sounds as there was excessive touching on the photographer's part...but only in those areas that were more sensitive in nature. He'd ask her to move a strand of hair from her face for herself, but would "help" her to adjust her those clothes that offered incidental/not-so-incidental contact with her breasts or her butt.

Then, to top it off, he offered her a job working for his "escort service". She had told him early on that she was in need of funds for school and was concerned about not being able to continue on, and he made it very clear that she could "earn $1,000 per night" and made it very clear that physical contact would be expected "but not bad or anything."

So this guy appears to be, at best, the worst type of GWC. At worst, he's a safety threat to those women who answer his model calls. The model is understandably nervous and is just glad to be free from the situation. Half of me says "Walk away and mind your own damn business." And then there is the half of me that worries that someone I know could cross paths with this guy and could end up in a really dangerous situation.

The good news is that he is not a presence on G1 from all the research that I've done. But I'm curious...what would yo do if you were in my shoes? Am I overreacting, or I am justifiably concerned?

Maybe you should contact the vice department of your local police department to let them know of his intentions and operation. I don't know if this will help, but you will be able to sleep better knowing that you did try to help those who don't know about these type of people? I wouldn't take it any further as you stated it may be at your demise. Good luck and nice hearing about your standards. Mike

The guy's a perv, plain and simple. I RARELY touch a model, and never any of the "girl parts". You should be able to communicate what you're looking for to the model. What he did borders on assault. You can't go around slandering people, but the word needs to get out that this guy's trouble. Find a grapevine. It's predatory guys like this that give photographers a bad name. And people wonder why models want an escort present during a shoot.

And he's lying about "not bad or anything" on the escort front. Officially, escorting is for "time and companionship only, blah blah blah, consenting adults, blah blah blah." But the reality is if she's going to make $1000 a night it isn't going to be for kissing, touching, and groping. She's going to be expected to be a little more "accomodating" than that.

Honestly?

Mind your own business.

Don't work with the guy, don't send people his way, but - and I'm no lawyer - I don't think you can do much of anything beyond that without exposing yourself to possible legal action directed against you.

Everything you said may be true, but it's second-hand - hearsay; you're telling us what she told you about what happened. That's of no legal value, insofar as I know. If the model will repeat the story herself directly to a cop, MAYBE something can happen, but even then it's not too likely. (Although if it's an election year, repeating it to the DA might get a more active investigation underway.)

Yeah, this was sort of where I kept ending up as well. Despite how bad this guy is, everything that I've got is second hand and the model is not interested in disclosing it to police for fear of reprisal. If I were a cop and someone brought me this story (on a second-hand basis) I'd wonder how much of it was true, and whether or not I was being used to get back at someone.

I agree completely on the topic of letting a name "slip out". I'd love to release it quietly and let it circulate, but there is no way that I am willing to risk a slander or defamation suit over a second hand account...even if I know it's true. I guess I'll just be gingerly steering people away from this guy and into the studios of photographers that I know to be professional.

Thanks for the insight.

I know that in some jurisdictions truth is a defence, but in Queensland, Australia, it is not a defence. I'd be careful whether it is true or not.

I have to disagree with those that say mind your own business.

In a past life I was a deputy sheriff, and typically, we found about guys like these when it was too late.

Me, I would call the local, on the business line. Ask for investigations and whoever handles sex crimes. You don't have to give your name, you are only relaying a tip. It is up to the cops to follow up. Alternatively, see if your agency has a tip line.

This guy sounds like he is a pimp. He is certainly soliciting, but may be skirting the law. If he has an escort service, then the police need to know.

Remember, this is YOUR community too. The next girl he gets a hold may not be so lucky.

Just my two cents.

He ain't a GWC. He's a pimp... which makes him a PWC.
