I had the good fortune to shoot with this lovely younglady today. It was my first shoot with the camera in full Manual mode, and obviously I have a way to go. I would appreciate any C&C you have. thanks.

PS can anyone tell me why the photos are different sizes? I uploaded the same size photos to photobucket, but it seems whenever I post more than 1 photo, they are different sized?

My guess on the sizing would be that your horizontal, being wider is wider than their width limit so it is resized down to within their limits. Like I say, a guess. The fact that the vertical one is ok is what makes me believe that. Could be wrong, experiment with different sized pics with them and watch the results...then delete your tests...oh, and get a 12 pack of beer for the test. It could be long and grueling...lol

oh yeah, nice girl, great smile and love to see more of her in the future there titan

your first image presents a challenge: how to keep some detail in the bright (blown-out) areas of the venetian blinds so there's more of an exposure balance between the model and the background. there's two ways to accomplish this: 1) apply neutral density film to the windows; 2) provide more fill light in front of the model to lessen the exposure difference between her and the BG. solution 1 is expensive and a pain-in-the-butt so #2 would be the way to go. you could accomplish that a couple of ways: first, with flash fill or, second, with reflective fill. are you using a meter?

Thanks for the info. I've experimented with a smaller file size and hopefully that will solve the problem. I still don't understand though, all 3 of these were the same size going into photobucket and differernt sizes coming out...

No. Actually Im hoping to purchase a meter next week, but I have no idea how to use one, nor which model to purchase. Any suggestions on a good model for a newbie?

personally, i'd go with one that gives you pretty much all you need for the best cost. IMO, that would be the Konica-Minolta Auto-Meter Vf. That's what I use and it works for me just fine.
