It's funny what catches your eye during the tedium of a 17-hour drive. My trip to St. Louis began in rain which stayed with me until mid-Ohio when the sky lightened up. By Indiana, it was beautiful out with billowy clouds dotting a blue sky. Pretty weather, my kind of weather -- Infrared weather!

Somewhere along I-70 as I crossed over a road I happened to glance to my right and saw this cool dilapidated farmhouse sitting there abandoned. Ooh, I've gotta shoot that!

About a mile further I saw a sign "Entering Henry Co." and then it took another six miles to reach the next exit. Once off, I followed roads I thought might lead me back to the place, finally stopping to chat with a farmer and asking "where's the county line from here?" Turned out it was just a couple of tree lines east, so I went about a mile past them, hung a right and lo and behold there's the place ... lol ... just as if I knew the way there all the time!

Cool place and glad I happened to glance right at that moment.

Comments/critiques welcome as always,

Dave

Thanks, RP. I'm currently using a Nikon D70 which has been modified to shoot strictly infrared. Most of the images done with it during the trip are with a Sigma 12-24mm (usually at the 12mm setting, so a 35mm equivalent of 18mm after conversion).

As far as if the D70 is better than others for IR work? Dunno. It does the job well enough for me but, then again, I have a friend who raves about her Fuji S3 that's been modified to do IR so who's to say, ya know. I'm happy with it is all I can tell you for sure.

Here's another from that location.

Thanks again

Dave

Thanks Steve! Here's a different view of that same building (by I personally like the one you singled out, too).

Dave

BTW, I was a little creeped out wading through the calf-high foliage you see in these shots, being a city boy and all ... lol Are there snakes under there, or rats or what? But had to gut it out for the image.

Both are very nice (and I love infrareds.) #1 is a bit too busy and I'm not sure where the real focus of the image is... However #2 is simply outstanding. Well done.

I like them all, but number 2 rocks. I'd love to put a nice big print of that up on my wall.
