I do my catalog stuff and the beach stuff but I guess i'm getting tired of the same thing over and over. I want to shoot something diferent outside but I just can't come up with anything that makes sense. I found a great MUA and she said you name the place and she will be there. I see lots of images of the models on city streets and in parks and such but I don't even know what to ask the model to bring. With swimsuits it's easy..With catalog shoots the clothing is dropped off at my house. So any ideas as to what I should do.. I hope I made sense...

Now you are getting to the "hard" part
Determine what is appropriate dress for your location. A park might mean jeans and a blouse. A business building might mean a power suit or a secretary look.
A restaurant might mean an evening/dressy outfit. Watch the colors and "lines" of your outfits and make sure they harmonize with the location. And above all the let the MUA help you.
Regards,
Stu

Stop thinking you always need to shoot models to get out of a rutt with them.

Start a project for yourself that doesn't involve people. Trust me, take a break from people and when you get back to people you will find new inspiration as you involve other elements of photography that you experimented with shooting other things besides people. You will start to incorporate and blend and expand.

What Stu said - kinda - "Welcome to the hard part"

Do what JT said - take a hiatus from pretty girls and shoot what you see. See what's about you. Look for interesting things, and make interesting images of them. Force yourself to see something differently, in more detail than you've done before.

Do what SteveD said - men are interesting too, naked or clothed. Force yourself to shoot a man as a sex object. Not so easy, eh? Then shoot 'em as what you think a woman's idea of a sex object is.

I've said it before and I'll say it again (because I'm a senile old fart) - create a visual metaphor - a series of four or five images that creates a metaphor for an object or concept. Sounds stupid, but is a great creative exercise - and, like poetry, is damned hard business, too.

There's a couple of old books - I think "The Joy of Photography" and "More Joy of Photography" - which have a number of suggestions on refreshing your vision.

Grab some Vogues, Harper's, and such and try reproducing some of the ads. Good technical exercises, if nothing else.

Good luck.
