Jimmy,

Photos seem to be missing. Enjoyed the story though. I think homeless people in general don't want to be photographed. Remember to keep your finger on the shutter as they beat you up. Sure to have some dramatic shots.

LOL, cool story jimmy, I would not have the huevos to park my 330i and start walking about, unless I had Vin Diesel and some pepper spray with me...

perhaps the best way to capture the homeless is to do a drive-by shooting...lol (with cameras of course)

i have no intention of becoming a statistic while--and as a result of--pursuing my craft. but carrying a .45 or and other firearm (at least, in L.A.) will probably result in my arrest. i like the pepper spray idea... maybe even mace.

yeah, i'm using program modes.

as also mentioned in your post, obtaining meter readings is not practical when trying to capture these images (of people) who may or may not know you're there or want to be photographed.

Cool story, unfortunately they took my guns off me! not permitted over here.

Go and get a nice solid manfroto or monopod or similar, if I ever have to go any where dodgy at least I've got something to defend myself with. If I have too, I'm less likely to get into trouble as it's part of my kit.

Isn't it terrible that you have to think like this? and you are about 5 years ahead of us...

It only happens here with some of the color shots. The big problem with street photography for me is the cluttered backgrounds, particularly people's heads and feet intruding. Goes with the genre I guess.

You can always try giving a derelict money, but maybe not with a den of them.

Hey Jimmy,
Nice story and pics to go with it . . . Wish I would've known you were gonna be in my neighborhood, I would've watched your back while you were shootin' the streets : ) I work on 6th and Spring, so Skid Row is just 2 blocks south of me . . . In fact I know exactly where you were shooting the Tent City . . . If you ever have plans to come out this way again, give me a heads up.

Some neat shots there Jimmy.
Just FYI, the religious ceremony is one of a sect where they base their believes from both the Old and New testaments. That's where the horn comes in. Wish I could remember the actual name of the religion. They are strong Christian believers though and also follow many traditions of the Jewish faith based that Christ was jew.
