Thanks for the kudos "pro"! I shot that with a Hasselblad with a Leaf back and it all worked pretty nicely!

Thanks as well Zakd for the kind words on the shot and it's fun to have an idea in your head and then be able to pull it off!

Ok....I have a dumb question. The Fendi name is in focus but the bottle its on is not, esp the logo right above the brand name. By design?

Hi JL, If you've ever used a view camera before, you'll know what "Swings and Tilts" are. If not, by taking the front or rear standards of a view camera and swinging or tilting them, you can hold things in focus better than you can with a non-movement camera (i.e. a 35-mm or 2 1/4 camera). In some cases like this shot, you can also use swings and tilts to give a very selective focus shot like the one I've posted. For this shot I wanted to give a very selective focus effect and without using a view camera, I shot the Hasselblad wide open and focused just on the name on the bottle. I then went in with Photoshop and blurred out anything else that was sharp in the shot to enhance the effect!
For old-timers like me, the view camera is a very wonderful tool and something that I don't get to use nearly as much these days!!!!

Yes Jim, it's like the old days of using a view camera with "Swings and Tilts" to either hold something more in focus or less depending on the effect desired. By focusing on the Fendi name on the bottle and shooting "wide open" that's a great start to make the effect. I also go in with Photoshop and blur down anything else that I don't want to be sharp and that helps as well.
