Hello all,

Here's a facial shot from the (same) model I've been posting over the last couple of days. Hope I'm not boring too many people with this. Anyhow, it's (obviously) touched up. I could have done better, but that's probably always the case. Any comments, feedback, or ideas is appreciated (as always).

Thanks, and have a great night!
-David

Hi David

I like this shot with the exception of the skin on the face being too obviously over softened, but I think you knew that!! lol

It is difficult, I know I'm still learning, but I think PS work should be like good make up, so subtle you don't even know it is there.

Pete

One easy thing you might try is to make your changes or some of your changes to a duplicate layer, then use the opacity control to reduce the effect of your edits and make the image look less changed.

Have fun

Tom

I like the photo in terms of exposure, colors and specially model pose.....but it is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy to softened and you even included eyebrow in softening......

LOL! OK, a little too touched up for people's liking, I see. Well, I suppose that technique has its place. Yes, eyebrows were touched as well, although not as much as the rest of the face. Lips were colored slightly, too.

OK, here is the same photo but less dramatic... I gave my touch up layer a 30% opacity. Of course, looks more real. What do you guys think?

Thanks again for the input!

This is much better but you may want to try unsharp mask on the eyes. Nice image.

Cheers,

Ahhh, yes, much better.

You know, I stopped using unsharp mask there for a while because I started a process where it would get added automatically right before printing. Well, that's not a good idea with glamour shots, because you don't always want the same level of sharpening everywhere. Thanks for the catch. I think that really improves the image!

Thanks again,
-David

Thanks a lot! I hope to be getting some better ones on our next shoot. We were supposed to shoot tomorrow, but she got poison oak. Ouch! Thankfully, she didn't get it while on location with me... I don't think I could have lived that one down!

Thanks again!
