In case you had not heard Canon has rebates for three months on the 5D and assorted lenses and accessories.
I just got mine today along with a 24-70 and a 70-200 IS.
Here is my first image straight out of the camera. It is a JPEG because I had not set the camera to RAW yet so don't get too excited Rolando. I still believe in RAW only. LOL
My first impression, besides that this is a great camera, is that Canon glass is heavy!. I did not realize being a Nikon guy how much lighter their lenses were. Being an American I will assume that heavier is better and the pics seem to bear it out.
Question - between a 85 1.2, 100 2, and 135L 2 which would be the best glamour prime? The 85 is very expensive but has ridiculously good light gathering. The 135 is an L lens but I am afraid it might be too long. Advice appreciated.

Oh and the show code still works at BHPhoto.

Search with 'psmar' and you can save even more money.

i'm planning to buy a 5D probly next week. is the rebate for the canon body? or is it just for glass (or for a kit) if and when you buy the body?

i've always been a big fan of the 135 focal length. it's probly a slightly more appropriate lens for portraiture than glamour, but i think it'll work as a cool glamour lens too. how about you buy the 135L and a 85 1.8? that 1.8 is way less money and it's a pretty freakin good piece of glass!

I'd opt for the 85L first. Next choice would be the 135L. As you stated the 135L
would normally be a bit long, and if the 85L is a tic short, then move in closer.. YMMV

Jimmy-
The rebate is for the body and some lenses and accessories. The show code at BH is for the body and the two lenses I chose.
Incidentally, the 85 1.2 II is over $2000. With the rebate. That is my hesitation.
But I am already astounded by the lack of noise at ISO 1600 and little noise at ISO 3200.

I would get the 85 1.8 and the 100 2.0 macro. I have both and love them both. The only reason the 100 isnt an L lens is that it doesnt have low dispersion glass but it doesnt need it. I talked to a canon rep at length about that lens and that is what he told me. It is good enough to not need a red band on it. Those two lenses and you are still under $1000

I'd really consider the 85 f1.8. It was probably the number one lens used by glamour and fashion photographers who were shooting with Canon back in the film days (you could have welded an 85 f1.8 to my F1n or my EOS 1n bodies and I would have been perfectly happy). The 85 f1.2L is nice, I've shot with it, not sure you can see the difference in print, but it is very heavy and for that reason the auto focus is a bit slower.
Also, the 70-200 f2.8L zoom is an amazing lens. At the 135 focal length it is rated as high as the 135 prime (hard to imagine, but my own results with this lens bare that out).

For Andy, there may be a 5Dn on the way, but more likely Canon is just adjusting the price stucture on the 5D because of the introduction of the Nikon D200. We originally expected the 5D to be introduced at the $2500 price point but Canon had no competion when it was released and so bumped the price. This gets the price down to the $2500 range while protecting the margins for the retailers while the market sorts it's way out. There will undoubtedly be a new 1 series camera out in the fall, and it will be a beast (22 MP), but I've heard nothing about a 5D replacement. But really, as a practical mater what is gained over 13 megapixels on a full frame sensor other than eating up space on your hard drive?
