Looks like I may be making a trip to Vegas next month. I'm primarily going to the fun of it, but I thought I might be a chance to do some shooting with different models.

Any tips on shooting on a trip like this? I'll be there Thursday evening till Sunday afternoon.

How do I recruit models? Where do I shoot? How much and what gear should I take?

Of course I've shot in Vegas before, at SSLV. But if any of you locals have tips on locations and where to avoid trying to shoot those would be nice too.

Ron

Good idea Ron. I've thought it would be nice to have a location shooting database that we could share. But I don't know much about implementing something like that. Maybe we have a software guru on here who could help.

My wife and I stayed at the Venetian over Valentine's day. In two days I took around three hundred snaps of the hotel and down the strip. I'd like to post some, but the make you sign a photography notice when you walk in and I don't know if I can. I don't want to sell any, but I would like to put some online. It is weird because the last time I was in Vegas (1998) you couldn't take pictures anyware!

Huh? Can you post a copy of the "notice" you signed? They can certainly limit your activity inside the hotel (private property), but if they allow you to take photos then you own the copyright and can use them for "editorial use" (such as posting on this type of website). Now if you tried to use a photo to advertise for your travel business, they could certainly object. But that's a different story.

BG, I don't have a copy of the notice but I did email the hotel to get one. Thanks for the advice.

Hey,

I have often shot while traveling...I usually don't bring any strobes or anything just because I don't want to lug it around...so, I always have shot during the day on location.
The last time I was in Vegas, I shot a model out at Red Rock...amazing area!!! Unfortunatly, the model was late (big suprise) and we only got off about 20 minutes of shooting before the sun went behind the mountains. It is about a 40 minute drive from the strip...but I recommed it if you have the chance.

As far as getting models, I simply put in a travel notice on the OTHER MODEL PLACE as well as contacting a few models in the area.

Good luck! I will be in Vegas next month around the 23rd-27th...maybe I will see you there!

I did the travel notice on the site which cannot be named and now have a shoot on Saturday.

We're going to be crossing paths, I'm there the 20-23. Leave Sunday at 7:40. Maybe we could meet up for a drink and some shop talk if you're there early on Sunday.

Ron
