Format of choice?

Who is using what format of camera and media?
Film large, medium, or 35mm?
Digital medium, 35mm SLR, point and shoot?

Just wondering what is the most popular at this point in time?

I haven't used my medium format cameras since I got a D100 when they came out. Now that I'm using the D2X I should probably sell the mediums.

Love my digital slr but I still use the 35mm slr too. Two different processes and I do love em both. Its about creating images...whats not to love!

Re: Format of choice?

Professionaly, I'm using 4x5 and medium format film cameras with movements. I occasionally use an 8x10. I will probably go to a small(er) format view camera (6x9 cm) and digital back later this year (I don't see computers doing Scheimpflug in my lifetime).

For stuff like you see on this site, which I do primarily for fun and creative outlet, I shoot film in medium format. I haven't used a 35mm system in probably 15 years. Up 'til now, the technology in 35mm digital bodies has changed so rapidly (every 18 months) that I haven't had the desire to get on the merry-go-round. But I think the cycle is now slowing down and am considering a purchase. We do have a digital point-and-shoot in the family.

As far as what is most popular at this point in time, the digital point-and-shoot is most popular as far as the general public goes. Around here, I'd bet it's a 35mm digital SLR.

Hang on to the M/F - there's no money on the used market. One day you can donate them to a school for the tax write-off or use them to do unique "art" - totally created without a digital sensor! You'll WOW the kids!

Re: Format of choice?

I'm shooting about 99% with my Nikon D70 but am getting a D200 next month. I still have my F100, which I love, and I have a 4x5 that hasn't seen the light of day in years only because its broken and I don't have need for it at this point. My desire is to get a medium format digital like the H2D but I need to sell a kidney first. I'd love to see how the MF digital prints would look.

Good day!
