Most of the time we really don't try to see what the photog/model was trying to say. over expose and under expose and you can get some really good stuff but if the person rating it doesn't get the point of the photo or what they were trying to say, they think it is bad. Rating is fine if you take the time to LOOK at what the photog or model is trying to say.
If the viewer doesn't get the point of the photo it is bad...
I aggree that the "camera club" syndrome may come into play, where people don't look at the image for what it is, they just look at it to see how it fits "the rules". But just because I call my photos art, doesn't mean that you can't call them crap.
