Hi Gang,

I was viewing the scenery here today in Maine while my youngest son was driving (learner's permit) and seeing things I normally don't get to see whilst driving. We happened to come upon a building near my house that had some super old and dilapidated equipment on the loading dock. The building hasn't been used in eons. I had an immediate vision of shooting a model there with some bib overalls (and nothing else) and making her skin look like it's sweating and greasy from working on that old piece of garbage machinery on the loading dock. How do some of you simulate sweat and grease and apply it so that it actually looks convincing and not contrived?? Is is really as simple as just spritzing their skin with glycerin or something similar? Seems to be the "grease" part would be a bit tricky. Penny for your thoughts, guvna!

Good day!

Mike

Actually the grease is the easy part. Just have them rub grease on themselves. LOL Might want to make sure there is a shower handy though. LOL I am sure someone will have better ideas though. I am curious about this as well. I am planning a shoot in a auto shop that is nextdoor to the studio.

Try mixing some ground up charcoal and Vaseline and sees what you get.

I have been told that actors black grease paint mixed with baby oil works great and is non toxic.

I've had an idea along those same lines for a while but have never gotten around to it.

I think that the greasepaint, charcoal with baby oil/vaseline ideas are the best. Regular grease can cause dermatitis. I think that just a touch here and there will be enough.

Wet wipes or waterless cleaner wipes will probably take it off.

Another approach is white Tyvek coveralls over black lingerie. A few black grease marks and a white ball cap with a big wrench or two to finish the look. I've got the coveralls, but I'm waiting for the right location.
