THAT’S IT! I’m going right off the deep end now. So there I was, minding my own business and toying around with Photoshop. I wasn’t working on an image, mind you. I was merely looking at all of the settings as they pertain to color management. I must say that I am totally dumbfounded by all of these settings available and have NO IDEA what to set any of them to. I need help. Is there anyone on the face of the planet who knows what all of this convoluted horse pucky means and what I should set my settings to? For example, when I open the color settings option and click on the pull-down tab for the “RGB:? selection, I have about 40 different options. My laptop LCD monitor is not listed nor is my desktop LCD monitor and so do I use Adobe RGB (1998), sRGB IEC61966, Colormatch RGB, ad nauseum? And then there is the CMYK selection. WTF? Do I use U.S. Web coated, U.S. Web Uncoated, U.S. Sheetfed Coated, U.S. Sheetfed Uncoated, etc? (sounds more like picking out what kind of candy I want). After that is the Gray settings and Spot settings. What the hell is that all about and what do I set them to? Currently they are set to “default? I guess; 20% dot grain for both. I have no clue what changing these will do when the print goes to the lab. Certainly there must be a book or a place that I can find this information and get my Photoshop engine “fine-tuned.? This is all so daunting and leaves me scratching my head (or kicking my cat). Will someone have mercy on me and either shoot me or help me configure PS for the best performance? Your mission, if you choose to accept it……never mind…watching MI2.

Good day!

Mike

Oh, and I hope everyone in my GG family has a most excellent week!!! (cue Bobby McFaren anytime now....)

what I do, you'd still not know WHY. I suggest you zip over to Amazon and buy Color Confidence by Tim Grey. Great Primer for this sort of thing. Besides, how I do it might not be the best for you and your purpose as this whole thing is so subjective.

Hi Marc,

I'll give you a call and we can see about getting together some time this week or over the weekend.
