I have yet to put a portfolio book together...I dont intend on carrying it into any agencies. Just a book for potential clients to see..
What size images should I use? 8x10? 9x12?? Now for the big question.
I have around 55 images on my portfolio...which ones go in the book and which ones dont! your opinions? if any of them...

My Portfolio

11x14 post bound at the minimum. I haven't had a chance to go look at your entire port, but you should show quality over quantity.

what mike said about the quality/quantity thing. (like i should talk. i don't have a bound, hard-copy, port either. i got plenty of stuff printed but, apparently, putting it all together into a nice bound thing is beyond my organizational skills)

I'll be the third to say 11x14s, 20-30 max. Who do you want your clients to be? What do you want them to see in your work that'll make them want to be photographed by you?

Is one enough ??

You are probably going to need a few I would think to show people
1- model portfolio = same person , variety of poses-backgrounds-outfits
2- artsy/ nude/ boudoir = nudes-silouettes-sexy/lacey
3- classic portraits = headshots-painted backgrounds ??
4- ??????

each one to show specific prospects SOUNDS like a good idea , but expensive $$
IF you do have a few then having a few different sizes to show also would not hurt

WHEN you do enlarge the images cropping with or without borders , frames , mats and whatever will come into play for your sales pitch / selling points

lets not forget matte, semi-gloss , gloss , canvas , foamcore etc.

All things you need to show clients , whether you will do it or deal with a pro lab ? ( next day service , "archival" quality, ?????? )

Take your best images and put them in a BIG book
wait until the local lab runs holiday specials to do the smaller stuff
( local camera store here just ran 8x10 special for the month of Feb. )
( beat me wasting ink at home )

I am just babbling on , I have no idea what you want or need , just felt like wasting your time reading this !!!!
I don't do it for a living so I have a nice 8 x 10 black portfolio that seems to impess most people , they are not used to seeing that many pics that size in one place

ps. if it will be used a lot then you might ask about thick pages(backing) , good hinges, sturdy cover

left side down from top 1,3,4,5,10,12,13,14,15,17,18,20,21,24,25,26
right side down from top 1,2,4,7,9,11,16,18,19,20,23

plus the highlight image

my opinion , if wondering ask specifics later if you want , I probably won't remember which ones I choose

kind of based on variety of poses and lighting and background

You MIGHT want to think whether you should show images of places you can't take the client to!! ( oh, I want a pic of me in the desert OR where is that stucco corner wall ,I like that )
OK but it will cost a lot more than normal studio time
