Hey fellow GGrs

I am selling the copyright for a couple of my photos to the model so she can use them for Maxim's Hometown Hotties contest, but I want to give her an official form that states she owns the copyright.

Any sggestions or links on where I can find such a thing?

Plus I need this in about 2 hours.

Hmm... Why don't you just sign the one that Maxim issues her stating that she owns the rights - she has to have it signed anyway - there is no getting around it... It's a simple concept really.

IF you actually want to transfer copyright, which means giving up ALL rights, you could say:

"In exchange for valuable consideration, I (your name), the creator and copyright holder of photos of (her name), copies of which are attached hereto, hereby transfer copyright and all other rights in the photos to (her name).

(signature) (date)
(your name)

I believe the copyright office may have forms and other information and suggestions on its site. In addition, you (or the girl) may be unclear about what is involved in copyright, licensing, releases, etc.

Why give her the rights? Why not just give her/Maxim use (as per their contract they issue)? I mean, gee, that's all Maxim asks for...

They have a form that they will have you fill out if and when she is accepted into the contest. There isnt any point in giving away your copyright. That just makes no sense unless you are getting paid really well.

I was going to say they require the copyright, but they don't. You'll just have to sign a form and they won't give you any credit. Of course you'll know.

[ QUOTE ]
The entrant must own the copyright to the photos or the entrant will be required to have the copyright owner (that is, if your photos were taken by a professional photographer, for example) complete a Copyright Release. We will tell you how to get a Copyright Release if and when you’re contacted for the contest. Also, the copyright owner will not receive payment from Maxim, which brings us to our last point…We will not provide any sort of byline or photographer recognition.

Nope not getting paid really well. But I also decided not to give her the copyright, ill keep it and just let her use the images if she gets chosen.

Thanks for posting that, I did see that a few days ago when she and I initially were tlaking about her entering. At first I thought it might be easier just to have her own the copyright, but on second thought I'll keep it.

THANKS to everyone for your advice.

Good idea... Also remember that they give no photo credit either.
