Greetings all; this marks my first post to the GG forums after much encouragement from my beautiful girlfriend, Taylor.

Your harshest critiques are welcome. I am completely new to this style of photography, so any criticism that can help me grow in the field is greatly appreciated.

Thank you to all of my fellow photogs for helping guide me through the SuperShoot, to the instructors for their time and knowledge, and to the models for their good humor and amazing work ethic.

Without further ado, my first set of photos from Surf & Turf II, of Miss Taylor:

Hey Outlaw,

My disclaimer...I'm a hack, a GWC, nothing more. I know what I like and what I don't, but have the technical expertise of Shamrock Shake. So take what I say with a (very large) grain of salt.

Photo #1 is clearly my favorite. I'm a big fan of symmetry (to a fault) and the pose throws off the overall symmetry just enough to make it really interesting to me. Posing Taylor in a symmetrical pose would have been interesting, but I think I would have still liked yours more.

Photo #2 - Like it as well. The only change I would have made is to have Taylor angle her hips slightly toward the window. She has a great figure, and I think that the slight angle might of made this a touch more flattering. That said, she still looks spectacular.

Photo #3 - Would have liked to see the windows not be cut off, but other than that I like it.

Photo #4 - Not a bad pic by any means, but my least favorite. For some reason it doesn't appear to be symmetrical to me, and the building in the background distracts me. Don't take offense at that though...I could be the Ritalin poster child.

Photo #5 - A few hot spots on Taylor's elbows and face, but it actually creates an interesting effect. The pose looks a bit unnatural or uncomfortable, but the picture certainly makes you stop and look.

Again, take my "hack-based" critique for what it's worth. If you're really as new as you you say, then I'd say that you're off to a good start and ahead of the curve.

Oh yeah, and that thing about Taylor being your significant other...that's not gonna win you any friends here brother. Lucky SOB! ;>

I must say that you and Taylor created excellent work. Kudos to the bot of you. She is beautiful and you did an excellent job accentuating (spelling?) that. Great work!

Thanks for the kind words, guys, and thanks for the excellent run down on my photos, Carpe Imago. I really appreciate you taking the time to critique. I will take your suggestions to heart.

Indeed, Photo #4 was taken at an angle a few feet off-center. I wanted a little more movement than a straight-on shot, but I don't believe I got far enough over to convey it; it just ended up making the image appear "off."

This shoot marked the first time I ever did anything even close to glamour/fashion/beauty work. Taylor can vouch, I truly had no idea what I was even supposed to be photographing going into this thing. The SuperShoot was awesome, though, and I walked away far more knowledgeable and inspired.

Lucky SOB, to say the least. I am truly blessed. :-)

Thank you again!

Trust me dK, I had been waiting all weekend to spend some time under your excellent tutelage, so when the time came, I was all ears and eyes.

Thank you for your great presentation and for working with my group on the balcony; I know I learned more in those times than I did anywhere else in the SuperShoot.
