And now for something completely different ...

I had a few hours to kill before my flight out of Harlingen last weekend. So I did one of my patented "let's hang a left down this road and see where it will lead me" moves. Eventually it deadended into Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuse, so I plunked down my $3 to see what was there.

Grabbed this shot and then dashed back for my flight.

And no, I didn't see the bee when I shot the image, just got lucky.

Um ... same one you saw hanging off my neck all weekend, Don! LOL

Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 (non-IS, unless you count me) but with a 2x teleconverter attached. Shot full out, so now I have to do the math ... grrr ... hate math ... 200mm times 1.6 camera conversion factor equals ... hmmm ... 320mm! And 320mm multipled by 2x converter ... easier one ... lol ...

I shot it at 640mmm Don!

Thanks, off to soak my head now -- smoke coming off it!

Dave

Thanks, Hon. What? You thought I was just another pretty face ... shooter? hehehe

Okay, back to toning workshop stuff for me -- including the work from our shoot. Thanks again for the fun sessions, I had a blast!

I do think you meant REFUGE; not REFUSE! Unless, of course, Laguna Atascosa is a landfill. hehehe

Anywho, great shot!! I'm very impressed with the level of detail even shooting through a doubler. Very impressive! Shot at four seconds, hand held, right??? hehehehe (ya, right).

Take care!

That is freaking hilarious, Mike! Karma can be such a cruel thing and I bow my head to her.

The funniest part of it all is that I had no idea of the place's name except for the Laguna part. So I google some words like "Laguna," "Harlingen," "birds," "Texas" and came up with ...

That'll teach me to trust cutting and pasting from google! LOL

Damned the Karma! And Dr. Bruce Moring or Lloyd H. Woosley Jr (or their web designer) too!

Excellent Dave! It is way cool when you get pleasantly surprised when you review your images.

It reminds me of this one. Like you, I had no idea the insect/bug was in the image until I reviewed it. The bird is a female Ruby Crowned Kinglet which are dainty little birds. The Sigma 50-500mm was used to capture this one.
