I organized a little workshop yesterday and was able to shoot a few images myself after the attendees went home. Thanks to Greg Daniels for hosting the event at his studio. I set these up for 3:1 Rembrandt lighting and kind of like the results.

You say 3:1, was this a two light setup? Either way they are both gorgeous.

I love them both but number one is surely the prize-winner for me! For lack of a better description, the background looks like the batter in the mixing bowl when my wife bakes a cake that has various colors in it. Awesome!

Thanks for sharing!

Good day.

whats a rembrandt patch. Educate me please.

[/ QUOTE ]
The triangular patch of light on the fill side of her face just below her eye. It is created by the key light being placed like a high window. It is created by the shadow of the nose and falloff of light on the cheek.

Refered to as Rembrandt style lighting since the Dutch masters often used this in their paintings to give depth and life to their subjects faces. Or so I've read. I just think it looks cool

Thanks Jimmy. It's so nice when I actually pull off what I was planning instead of stumbling on it by 'accident'.
