I know I know I am lacking a beautiful model! I was empty handed tonight and wanted to learn to work with some things. The BG is red vinyl that is really reflective, hence I bounced light off of the ceiling for my main. For fill I used a peice of white drop ceiling and silver coated insulation. Red neck setup right? I AM in ILLINOIS! j/k, why spend money on things that already work ,right? Anyhow, I used some sinfoil to block the BG light from hitting the subject point. I would appreciate any ideas with this light setup. Any room for improvment or even something totally different?

Wish I could give you advice, but alas no...

However, it looks good, although the model - believe or not - reminds me of myself long and many pounds ago. Not to mention far more hairs, and far fewer gray ones.

You managed to eliminate the shiny quality of your background - the lighting doesn't have a reflection/shine captured in the first picture, so that it looks rather like a nicely done paper background. And considering the BG is red, YOUR color looks quite good - very little reflected back, apparently.

Nicely done, Joshua. I wonder how to capture the shiny quality...?

I was shooting tonight and the model said "you remind me, voice, actions, looks, word choice exactlty like my cousin!" And, I'm apprently a past time render of you too! I was unaware of being so common haha!

I shot tonight on this red backdrop and it started to cause issues. I will have a lot of post editing to do. The model had tall hair and she is really tall as well...my ceiling is only 7 feet I believe. So, lots of adding background in Photoshop ;p Oh well, they will be smoking once I'm done with em'!

Judging from your work, I strongly suspect that you, like I, have been called many things, but not "common".

So, "smoking" eh? What problems did the backdrop cause? I've been thinking about investing in some vinyl fabric for a background.

Smoking because I'm a photoshop nerd! We will see. I will post once I get done finished.

The backdrop isn't totally flat (the edges are slightly curled = reflections) so I still got some reflections back from any type of fill light. I basically had to go with the main bounce light, like in the images in my original post, and a reflector. I used one light to light th background, which yelided no negative bounching. Basically no light other than the background can be facing anywhere near the backdrop.
