Hi Guys

I have a chance to photographs some hair styles for use in a competition and would appreciate any advice you can give me about how to do it. I have a small studio set up with white, black and red back drop. I also have a number of lights, a homemade beauty dish (haven't used it yet!) large reflector, umbrella's and a shoot through. I am using an S2 with sigma 70 - 200 F2.8, 24 - 70 f2.8 and nikon 50mm f1.8.

thanks in advance

Pete

I've done some of this for a friend of mine who is a hairstylist. One thing to forget...it's not about the face! In a lot of glamour photography or what I mostly do senior photography, it's about the face. In this case, profiles are sometimes good, shooting at high angles looking down at the top of the head is sometimes good. The reason I say sometimes is because it depends on the hair style. Be sure to use a hairlight. Even though it's not about the face good make up is important.

Go to Wal-Mart and pick up a couple of hair magazines and study the pictures in them.
