Hopefully I've figured out how to hotlink to an image so here goes. If you will, please tell me what is good, bad or ugly about this image. Is the size on this one large enough for an honest critique.

The size is fine and the model pretty but I find the light too flat for my taste and the right sholder looks a bit odd due to the angle.

You asked so I will give you my thoughts, and they are just thoughts. Because of lens distortion and your angle, it looks like she has a large head and yet extremely small shoulders. Your exposure is good because I still see definition within the blacks and in the white area. I just think the angle and perspective become so dominant they make her beauty secondary.

Thanks for sharing and by all means keep sharing.

As I'm still learning here myself, these are just my opinions.

I believe the lighting is very flat. possibly move the flash angle off to the side a bit. I notice the catch lights and it appears straight on like from the camera.
There's something about the pose that does make her head a bit large for her body. What lens did you use?
Her expression to me looks as though she's tired or falling asleep here.
Keep shooting and keep posting. Like I said JMO

I am going to be brutal....this is NOT a personal slam.

It looks like the eyes are soft.

I will start with her right shoulder... looks weird the way the shirt is all together.

Looks like you just stood over her and shot down at a weird angle. Popped the camera flash on and shot. Her head looks distorted with the angle and choice of lens.

Looks like buckwheat with the hair going on. She's pretty symetrical too and I know she's pretty.

Black hair on black usually needs seperation. In this case she is laying on it.

I don't see a purpose to be quite honest. I don't see any thought to it.

Her neck where it creases on image left is not flattering.

Roger, to be blunt. Just way too many distractions to be considered anything of value. I want you to think about your next shoot and don't just shoot to be shooting a pretty girl. Shoot to get an image that has value. Look at your work and look at others that you admire and try and get better instead of hoping to get better. Keep posting, keep on shooting and I certainly am not trying to discourage you from doing so. Just the opposite. Get fire under you and do it.

I will take my meds now and be better in the morning...

Thanks JT for the honesty. You are not discouraging me. I have always said that if you are doing something wrong and do not know what it is then it is virtually impossible to improve. I came here to learn so let me have it. The only thing I can argue with you about about is her laying on her hair. Her head is laying on the front of the seat cushion with her hair draped down the front of the couch toward the floor. I posted the photo inverted 180 degrees from the way I shot it. Thanks again, Roger

Thanks for your critique Frank. To answer your question about the lens I used; I did not shoot this with my slr or studio lights. I shot this with a sony cybershot dscp73 3.2 meg p.o.s. digital. I sometimes try to use it like photographers used to use polaroid which I probably should not do. Thanks again, Roger
