According to www.konicaminolta.com they are calling it quits for cameras. The company is giving their assets and business to Sony for small cameras and the digital slrs. I am not sure they even have film cameras any longer. I am a dying breed.

I'm part of that dying breed.

I've said this many times -- yes, digital has done good for photography, but it's done a lot of bad, too...

I thought this might happen when they announced they were cutting back last year. I guess that means I'm gonna get a Canon for my next camera.

Remember Paul Strand? Remember when photography was denied to be a valid art form?

Let digital have its way on the web, and in the mass media. Practice the old ways for art's sake. There are still sculptors, painters, craftsmen. And there is still a market for photographic art. We are now a minority (in just a few short years) but I think that film and the gelatin silver print will still have a niche.

I'm SURE I must be reading this wrong. I just KNOW you didn't mean to say that digital can't be art.

I better toss a couple of these in here.

No, I didn't say that. I said that art is the only venue left for film.

Would it help if I said that I *am* a little disappointed in the turn things have taken? I'm just amazed how in a few short years we've gone from "is there a place for digital?" to "is there a place for film?" All I hope for is that it won't be so overwheming that the choice will be taken away.
