I don't have any real experience shooting out in the sun,...make a post and you will get some good advice from the guy's that have experience.

Andy McFarland (Florida)shoots on the right coast,..I think he shoots the last hour of daylight.

Metered, diffused fill flash or reflector, scrim,..those are all I can come up with.

Sorry.. I got carried away.. I was on meds during the shoot.. and I actually didnt remember this shot.. no.. Iactually did remember it, but didnt want to admit it.. in my poor health.. someone like mike hickey might have had a heart attack..


but I do like your image.. I am hoping to do something similar soon..

No trick photography or photoshop was used for the water on that shot. It was at a photo workshop in Florida at a very large home next to Tampa Bay. What you are seeing is the hot tub with the swimming pool behind that and then Tampa Bay beyond the pool. The three seperate water areas blend together because of the angle of the shot. The models knees are on the edge of the hot tub and pool.
