Well,.. the way I see it,... post an image regardless of what your contribution to this "industry" is..

Models and MUS's all have a perspective of your own...and sometimes, I wish I'd hear more from them..

Yes, I think the models and mua often have a better perspective than photographers.

From your post it sounds like you're saying that only photographers can offer critiques of photos. That seems to exclude a major portion of the members of the site, namely the models and the MUA...

[/ QUOTE ]

I said, twice, that I included experienced models in the group of "people who I take seriously when they critique me," although not in those words. I am quite willing to extend that to experienced MUA, experienced stylists, etc. and to the extent that it seemed like I was diminishing their importance, I apologize.

Wrong, it appears that if you post an image you are trying to upstage or grandstand.

Reminds me how we make issues up to have issues because we can't function without disfunctional issues and even that can lead to having issues that are dysfunctional ....

[/ QUOTE ]

It seems to me that that no matter what you do, you will offend someone when you express an opinion or idea or show an image that another disagrees with. Every kind of feedback tells us something about our work. Nothing wrong with pondering the expressed opinion and rejecting it based upon thought.

Just for the record I am a photographer not an art critic.
Just recently switched over from all Nikon 35mm to all Canon digital.
Been shooting for years, high school, college, 4 years with a major publication, etc.

"Talk is cheap. Whisky costs money."

--- Roger Zelazny

I have no reason to doubt you. But no posted images, no portfolio images, no link to a website? I have no reason to believe you, either. The more somebody talks about their experience (citing a specific number of years in particular is a big ol' red flag) without anything behind it, the more familiar the pattern looks. Even Rolando - who, God love him, loves to talk - is more likely to brag about how long it's been since he actually *owned* a camera[1] than how long he's been using them.

No offense to you. You are what you are and for all I know you're fifty times the photographer I will ever be. But on the Internet, no one knows you're a GWOC - or that you're not.

M

[1] It's a funny story - basically, he went like twenty years (more?) and people just kept loaning them to him.

That's great. If you want to learn some cool stuff and exchange ideas with some cool folks then check the attitude at the door, pop some images in your portfolio (they don't have to be glamour), come on in and be welcome.

It's best if you don't ever attack anybody though... nothing good comes of it. Don had his reasons for what he posted about the contests. If you knew him you would've been able to predict the subsequent public apology. Don's a valued member here, attacking him was no different than him attacking Rolondo.

We can all put this behind us now. Like I said, come on in and be welcome.

Regards,
Chip
