Been busy lately and havent had much time to do much, finally got the dust knocked off the camera.
I have seen a few images that I liked using mirrors / plexiglass. Happened to have a mirror lying around and decided to try some shots. Also like the leg shots of Mr Moyle. Tried to combine both into something pleasing. Hope I did just that.

For those that have done shots like this, what do you think? How much reflection shoud there be in the mirror? Are my shots ok, not enough, too much.....although I rekkon that could be just personal taste there.

Lighting was a single spot to camera right moved it around a bit to get the light where I thought it was looking good. Didnt think of using a reflector to fill in the bck sides, but then again, not sure if that would have left the same feel to the shot. Kinda like images that fade off into the shadows. Hey, maybe that will be my niche....hmm......are newbies allowed to have a niche....or is that a niche at all...discussion for another time

How did others set up shots like this?

Would appreciate any comments on these images. If ya like em say so. If you dont, tell me why, or what to do better the next round.

Thanks,
Dean

Hey Dean! I really like what you have you going here, however. I think the fall off on the legs is too fast, notice how skinny her front leg appears to be? Also if you look at Mr.Moyles images His are about Angles,Angles, Angles. thats what creates such an interest in his shots in my opinion the man has an eye for angles. try shoot this again and put a reflector camera left on the legs so the fall of isnt quite as fast. falling off into shadows is cool, but I just think its a bit to fast on these.

I agree with Don, a reflector to give us full definitiion of the legs would help. but you done good.

Dean! Mirrors are fun! the piece Ive been playing with is a small 2x3ft mirror. just watch the angles and keep em low so you dont get your lights in them, or the ceiling. Keep playing with it and I bet you come up with some cool stuff!!

Don.

Thanks Don, your right now that I look at it again. Man, you can stare at something and then once someone mentions something it just pops out there at ya. Going to try another session and will add a reflector to the left and get the light to drop off a bit slower.

The Moyle part was just about the legs I feel like such a newb, (probably cause I still am) after going back and looking at more of Mr Moyles shots, your fight, angles are everywhere. Have to get myself to look at stuff more indepth sometimes. Also tells me the camera sat idle for too long.

Appreciate the comments as always Don

Thanks for the comments Mike, will be working on getting a reflector in there and shaping up the legs a bit more.

Indeed, going to have to play with the mirror some more. Have a few more ideas to try out. Mine is about 18" x 24" want to get a mirror a little larger. Tried a shot similar to the one you posted, but kina ran out of room and didnt like the way it turned out.

The goal this year is to shoot one night a week, may turn into every other week. I watch a lot of folks here and have learned more than I can say. I think I have improved quite a bit from where I started, but still have a long way to go. Will keep chuggin along.

Dean, To me your shots are great as is. Go ahead and play around with reflectors or what ever to refine your own style. I too like takeing shots of reflections. It can be tricky. Big rewards when they work.
