I did a bad job in 2005 explaining and teaching. I apologize for that, a lot of well 'life' going on but those who asked me to stay with this site asked that I teach and share. I sucked at it.
Many new photographers ask how did you get the idea? How did you decide to pose the model within the set to get what you wanted to create? So when I decided to put Aloha within the jacuzzi without water it started with two key ingredients. First, and foremost, as an artist and as an old artist I am very much in to sensual images that tell a story or lead to a story. Many call it 'foreplay', those of us who are older know that foreplay actually begins long before the moments. That you help your partner, simmer, that you plan and practice and "Anticipate'. Some call these erotic, and they are in my mind. I love creating images that build upon that practice. So here Aloha is anticpating the time with her lover and visualizing what she, and they will do. She is rehearsing, practicing.
The second factor is that I wanted to work these images early in the shoot but not fill the tub until the last part of the shoot for obvious reasons. When you work with a model who is in sync with what you want to create (a muse), images like this become a 100% collaboration. When you are working with a new model, and you are doing a poor job communicating, and/or she is not in sync, you cannot get here.
In my mind anyway. Lesson over for now.
