Okay, Xotica brought a few interesting ideas to our last shoot, and I did my best to execute them... Here's a first pass on a "ghost of Christmas past" concept:

Now, the question is, is there a simple plug-in to mimic the "starburst" filters? I'm happy with the lighting, the pose, and the fabric, but I REALLY want to pull up the lights...

If you reshoot this- expose for the "dinky" lights first.
Find out how much exposure (time) you need to burn them in.
Ex: say 5 seconds to get the key exposure.
Ex: then pop the strobes during the last second as the fill.

A couple of options.

ULead used to make a plugin called Particle Maker. It has a set of 8 effects ranging from bubbles to fire. One of the 8 was a star-effect that would work for what you have in mind.

The other, easier option, is to grab a set of Photoshop Brushes that are in the star-shape. Check over at Abode Action XChange for those. That gives you more control over the final effect, too.

Good luck with it.

Dave

PS. I'm dreaming of a White (balanced) Christmas.
