Shortly before my camera fell to the floor today and snapped off the pocket wizard at the base (say $165 Mikey) , I got this image of my firts muse Aloha.

Now this is an interesting shot,I love it. Is this orginal or did you touch it up at all. If original, what was your setup like.

Nice black on black image Mike. I pulled the power cable on a light today and down came the light to the floor. Now, we all know not to do these things but our minds race sometimes.

that's the problem with those pocket wizards (besides the price tag): they're so high-profile on one's camera. i use these little, low-profile, $39, 4-frequency, taiwanese-made specials off of ebay. ok. they don't synch to a sekonic light meter. Big freakin' deal, i don't use a sekonic anyway and, even if i did, again, big deal. it's true my asian-made transmitter only has an effective range of 100 feet as opposed to pocket wizard's 1600' range. but when's the last time you shot a model from 1600 feet away? in fact, when's the last time you shot a model from more than a hundred feet away? and btw, my chinese special fires my strobes every time. i've never had a problem with it. hell, at 39-bucks a set, i bought two of them cuz i'm a big spender like that. I haven't shot a model at a distance where the Pocket Wizard's range is necessary, but have definately needed more than 100' of range when shooting architecture. Don't know that I have ever needed 1600' but I've needed at least 300' on many occasions.

i can absolutely understand needing some range with the transmitter for shooting architecture. but for glamour, fashion, beauty, portraits... heck, weddings and most special events, i don't think anyone needs that kind of range.

Not so sure about that, some of the models I've dealt with have a damn good arm when throwing shoes at you.
