How does one ever conceive of a shot where a nude model is wearing heels and climbing a rusted ladder? I suppose it's well executed, but still seems very odd.

You gotta ask yourself...how many glamour shots actually represent real situations?

i'll answer that one...the glamour shots that work well work because the model is in a situation/story that makes sense or at least captures the viewer as believeable, either real or fantasy.

Key word....Fantasy! And in a fantasy world anything is acceptable, even heels on a ladder!

If you are in the business of selling images...the true thing is what the people who are paying for the images thinks of them. Cash is king.

I have found very few editors will buy glamour images based on fantasy alone...there has to be a fantasy component involved in the story, but the story has to be believable. Just look at any magazine, from Playboy to FHM/Maxim/Stuff and you will see there is a story component to almost everything published.

Fantasy is great...and we see more fantasy in fashion than glamour images.

But in the end, its what the people who are paying you are looking for. The image of the lady on the ladder is cool, but I don't see how believeable an editor would buy it for a glamour story. For a fashion story, it would be pretty cool.

I wont even begin to doubt what your saying. Your an awesome photographer and most likely make your living from it. I have never made a dime from it, and my shots may support that. It's just a love for me. While there is true candid glamour, most things are staged, and would never be witnessed by the common person. You simply just don't drive down the road, or walk down the street, or walk through someones home (short of the Playboy Mansion) and witness these things. It's not norm. That's why I called it fantasy. I think the people who look through the magazines appreciate what we do, the more creative the better, but is that to say they believe it, or just enjoy. Oh, and in this day and time, there are no dress codes!! I've seen stranger things than a woman climbing a ladder wearing heals, and I liked it!!!! Keep up the awesome work!
