Got a shooting break when the scheduled model called off with the flu. So Zairia and I scouted locations near the arch in St. Louis and I shoot off a few frames while there.

Arch and helicopter

Park area just north of arch

Graffiti Wall just south of arch

Actually, it was during the week of October 24 - 28. I like to get the images toned, burned to CDs and shipped off to the models first before posting -- so that's why the delay in these appearing here.

And yes, we had talked about possibly getting together if a shooting slot opened -- but when our planned model called in with the flu Wednesday, it just seemed like it would be too last-minute and, frankly, downright rude of me to give you a yell at that last stage. Not that I didn't think long and hard before deciding not too, Tiffany. I know we'd have created some beautiful ones for sure!

Incidentally, where are you moving to? Hoping closer to Pennsylvania!

An hour or two closer, I think ... hehehe

Connecting the dots here -- Mike Hickey moving to Nashville area one of these days -- he and I have talked about getting together again for a visit -- hmmmm

Never can tell ...

Have a safe and smooth relocation, Tiffany, and we'll see how it all plays out next year.

Dave

Love the arch barely saw the copter. What camera were you using? What lens?

The park shot was stunning. Was this grey scaled in PS or did the camera do this?

Great work!

Wow, I love em all. Especially that first one... GREAT angle! The trees in the second one are lovely as well, and the structure looks so isolated. Nice work!

Thanks, David!

Actually, that's a multi-part question you asked there ... lol

The top image was done with a Canon 20D. Image specs are ... Exposure - 1/2000 seconds, f/stop - 7.10, ISO - 200, Focal Length - 17 mm (x1.6 sensor, so more like 26 mm, no sense quibbling over the half millimeter ... lol). The lens was a 17 mm-85 mm.

The second image was with a Sony Cybershot set to do infrared. Since the image comes out as green with it, I desaturated it in PS and tweaked the levels a bit (though nothing drastic since except for the green-coloring it comes out pretty clean with that camera). Additional specs on that one are ... Exposure - 1/60 seconds (forced due to camera restrictions), f/stop - 2.00 (also forced due to camera -- long story but basically Sony crippled the camera from shooting in full range with infrared), ISO - 100, Focal Length - 9.70 mm (bogus number here in EXIF info ... my hunch is probably 20-24 mm).

Thanks again and enjoying the nightshot of Toronto! Nice work!

Thanks Chelle! I really appreciate it!

The isolation and, well, just plain "not looking right-ness" of that second image is what drew me to it in the first place. Almost a fairy tale quality to it smack dab in the big, modern city, you know?

It also goes to show you that photographers rarely take an off-day to just sit back and relax. After about a half-an-hour of it, both Zairia and I were like "let's get out and do SOMETHING!" lol I'm glad we did since it not only produced these images, but also gave us a leg-up on the next days shooting locations.

Thanks again,

Dave

BTW, nice starkness to the image you posted here ... I like it!
