I am often faced with the inevitable fact that the same image can look better when there is less rather than more.

Here is the same shot. The first is the lovely Sindy as shot. The second is the same image severely cropped.

Which do you feel is the more effective image? Or is there something else I have totally missed?

Well, personally I'm not a big fan of there being quite so much space at the top of the image in the first one in this case, so my vote's for the second one.

In this case, I like the second better....it's more "personal" IMHO

I like #1 better. In #2, you don't know she's in a pool, so the water on her seems odd. And I really don't like her nipple sticking through her fingers. I mean, she's nude, but covering herself, but not really...make up your mind. That's less prominent in #1.

#1 - You can still make out the water in the background.

Me??? I think I would actually like to see a crop in between the two lose the space but keep the water ripples in front of her...if you know what I mean..

Don.

I think this is what you meant. I think this is closer but not quite perfect.

Better! Of the 3, I like this one the best. But the close crop is a very close second. Great job!

They're both good, but I really like the "in your face" effect of the second one. Believe me, that's not a bad thing at all.
