Went down to the mall yesterday and picked up three copies of a magazine I have an image in.

The magazine is Gothic Beauty and my image is on pg 47. Gothic beauty is a nationally distributed fashion and lifestyle magazine for the Goth community.

I haven't scanned it yet, but this is the cover - not my image:

This is the image:

The model is Batty and the MUA was Kelly Ingram.

Batty has been on the cover of GB before. She designs her own gothic clothes but when she came for this TFP shoot she wore another designer - Kambriel's - dress. When Kambriel saw the pictures she asked if she could send them in for the story they were doing on her. The magazine had requested her to send a bunch of images in and they would pick which ones to use. I said sure and sent her a number of the images from the shoot.

There were three pictures in the article, 2 by Naydia Lev, who is one of the best Gothic fashion photographers out there. And one by yours truly.

Just for completeness, here's the image opposite mine, which is of the designer in one of her dresses. And here is the other used at the end of the story.

As an object lesson, let me point out this was my second TFP shoot. I screwed up and shot a lot of stuff wrong, with the color balance off. This particular image was underexposed, the blue background was an experiment and I didn't like it. But in the end it was good enough for publication.

You never know what a TFP shoot might turn into.

I'd like to see this same shot with a pumpkin... Where's Ms. Cohen when you need her?

Congrats.

If there had been a pumpkin I probably would have made the cover.

Live and learn.

Tearsheets are a good thing, they add credibility to anyone's book.

But on a slightly different subject, I've gotta get out more. What I know about "goth" could fill the bottom surface of a thimble, but it seems to be getting more and more popular. Maybe I should do a little research?

I'm not goth in any way. Would probably have never learned anything about it if it hadn't been for Batty wanting to update some images and contacting me.

Now that I do know it I love it as a photographer. Goth is all about drama, which is a good thing from a photographic POV. They have incredible clothes, everything from victorian to fetish and normally mixed together in interesting ways.

Photographing Goth is fun, when I initally posted mine I caught hell from a lot of the photographers in GG. But I will do it again, Sheena brought out my Dark side. I love it.

These shots are of Sheena gg#28900
Sheena is great to work with.
