It was a day of indoor and outdoor shooting. I tried a differnt camera. I still can't get that depth of field right. I keep getting it backwards. The subject ends up blurry. Any ideas on that would be appreciated.

Model is Heather.

Just remeber if you want your background blurry, you need to set your f stop to a wider opening, like 2.8 4.0, and maybe 5.6 depending on the lighting. I still have trouble myself with it on my digital camera.
Love the models eyes in the first image.

Are you using the center focus point? I know on my canon I ran into some softness issues if I used an outer focus point so I now use the center to lock focus then recompose the shot.

I really like the second shot. Nice location.

I actually used Dave's Canon and I think that was part of the problem. I didn't know the camera, and I think I ran into the same problem you did. But I sure loved using it.

#2 has a lot going for it, my celtic princess, especially the way the perspective of the two lines of trees focus the viewer to the model. when you're posing a model like that, you might have her wing her elbows out a bit. while it will feel somewhat unnatural to her, it looks very natural and fills out the pose. i tell model to "funky chicken" their elbows a little and they understand what i'm talking about right aways. (even the young ones... i guess "funky chicken" has survived the ravages of time and is still a recognizeable move.)

as for DOF, you might have had a focus point issue. i always have my camera set to the center focus point. i then focus where i want the focus to be and then, while still holding the button down to maintain the focus, recompose.

DOF is all about aperture. the wider the aperture, the shorter the DOF. for this shot, anything from 2.8 thru 4.5 would have probly given you the kind of DOF you were looking for.

Thanks JimmyD,

I am trying out a lot of different styles right now. The only things I do know is that I like Sophicated and Classy images. I like the lines and the bearing. A also like a touch of rauch depending on the outfit and circumstances.

Here is one of todays images.

i hope you're not classifying that one as "raunch." it's very classy!

btw, whenever you're in the mood for raunch, just whistle. you can whistle, can't ya?

few can do raunch like i can do raunch.

not raunch:
