He's been to the bookstore again... no tellin' what he's bought now!

Yep, actually been to several bookstores AND the big local antique book and ephemera sale.

Couple of books in the stores currently might be of interest to you.

Erotique Digitale: The Art of Erotic Digital Photography, by Roderick Macdonald and Minnie Cook, ISBN 1-59200-526-8. $29.95 paperback Click here to see it.

This is a very nice book on creating erotique images. Careful, that's erotique (okay for the spelling challenged e-r-o-t-i-c), not pornographic. Lot's of naked ladies though. This is sort of a formula book. By that I mean, it has certain elements in common with many other books currently on the market. It starts out with an equipment section, then a technique section (mainly PhotoShop manipulation), and winds up exploring the images of various photographers working in the genre.

The book is nicely put together and offers a variety of photographer's images. I'm sure you'll recognize a few of the photographers when you browse the book.

If you're one of those purists who deplore PS manipulation, you'll probably not buy this book. I found it a bit heavy on the manipulative side of things for my taste, and I'm not above tweaking an image a bit.

Anyway, it's a pretty book with some interesting images and PS manipulations, look for it in either the photography or digital imaging sections of your local bookstore.

Heidi Klum's Body of Knowledge: 8 Rules of Model Behavior (to Help You Take Off on the Runway of Life), by Heidi Klum. $27.50 hardback Click here for Heidi

Heidi is one of the few supermodels still active on the runway, at least for Victoria's Secret anyway. Frankly, I didn't read a word of her book while browsing through it. There are just too many great images. Ya gotta check it out if you're a Heidi fan. It may be in the women's studies, health, or fashion sections of your bookstore depending on who does the stocking. Ask for it...

Speaking of Victoria's Secret, I understand this year's lingerie show will be televised on November 9, on CBS I believe. But don't hold me to the network... I only saw a blub somewhere and may have it confused. Since it's on network TV with the FCC's current mood, there aren't likely to be any "wardrobe malfunctions..."

The November issue of W has some interesting stuff in it.

The latest issue of PDN is the 25th Anniversary issue. If you buy it on the newstand, take some extra money along. The cover price is $12.95, but it's a bit fatter than usual.

So what did I buy at the antique book sale you ask... Well, not as much as last year, but then there wasn't a lot in my area of interest. I did see a nice copy of Mortensen's classic book The Model at a sorta reasonable price ($40), but after browing it, I decided I could live without the pictorialist view of modeling for a while longer. (Translation - the dealer wouldn't ****er...)

I did come home with the 1995-1996 Versace promo book which features only large (maybe 11 by 14) full page images in color and B&W of Kate Moss in Versace (or nothing at all!) by Avedon. It's in pretty nice shape, and ought to appreciate nicely in value (as if I would sell it!). The Versace, Moss, Avedon triumverate produced some fantastic images.

So that's about it... The end of the month is coming up, new issues of lots of magazines will be hitting the stands. Remember to tell your newstand dealer to unwrap at least one copy of each magazne for the browsers if he doesn't already.

Oh, one last thing, Breanne Ashley is one of four regional finalists in the FHM model contest. Congratulations to Breanne and good luck to her!

Some Breanne shots...

The fine print. I get nothing from nobody for mentioning anything. My tastes are mine, develop your own. Books are meant to be browsed, otherwise they'd be CD's...
