And I like the ride. A month or so ago I saw some photos maked with I think the Larson adapter and liked the light but I didn't like the price tag. So I saved a search on eBay and 2 weeks ago it produced results in a fresnel with a 10 inch lens that has already been modified to work with my Elinchrom lights at a very low price.

These are from my first use of it.

After I found out how large the beam is even focused as tight as it would go I cut some gobos to narrow the beam and feather the edges. But all in all I think it worked pretty well.

Thanks, I have always loved the work Hurrell did and I've tried to reproduce the look. But softboxes and reflectors just don't cut it for that. It's an old J.G. McAlister light, I don't know what size it was in watts but it's pretty big.

Very Nice Ernie! I'll have to ship DeAnn out there....seems to work better than a spot grid and barn doors!!

looks like a 2k to me, ernie. and the chassis looks in great shape. if you don't have them, you should be able to find some barn doors on ebay for that Frankenlight you created.

Marketing Idea for you Jimmy...call it Young Frankenlight and the Jingle could be Peter Boyle and Gene Wilder singing puttin on the ritz!! btw, ernie, old lights like your mcalister also make great props-- especially when creating a vintage hollywood looking shot or something contemporary with a retro feel to it. problem is, you'll lose the use of your frankenlight if you're using it as a prop. i'm planning to do a shoot very soon where i'll be using a number of old, mole-richardson, lights and stands as props.

OK, but use FedEx... I am about 1.5 hours from their hub in Memphis and everything shipped through then gets here faster.

I tried using grids and wrapping cinefoil around a beauty dish and other stuff to get the look, but as Jimmy said fresnels are d'bomb.

It has been recently painted but it is in great shape. I don't have any modifiers for it yet except for some gobos that I cut for it out of black foam core to narrow the beam and feather the edge. Are the brackets on the front a standard size? The lens is 10 inches in diameter if that helps, I don't know anything about these lights unfortunately.
