I am thinking of attending Rolando's workshop in Williamsburg and had a few questions if anyone can comment. Roughly how many photogs attend? How many models? Also, how much actual shooting time can I expect?

thanks

Korey,

Hi. Thanks for your post. From what I know, Williamsburg is my smallest workshop, normally about 10-12 photographers. We keep it small due to the location size (sorry Randy) as it's a smaller shooting space.

Normally we have three to four models, we always book four hope for three. We have several new models. On shooting time, I provide lecture both days for a couple of hours, so you'll have plenty of shooting time especially at the ratio of such a small group, not to mention I know the studio owner well and we don't leave at exactly 5 p.m. on Saturday.

I hope that helps, and I assure you that you will not only shoot, but learn something at the workshop. Thanks, rg sends!

This is true. With 10-12 photogs and 3-4 models there are about 3-4 photogs per model. When it's your turn, the model is quite happy to pose for you and help you get the shot your after. You don't have to settle for the pose or shot the last guy got. Also, I was kind of hitting a block and had no idea what I wanted once so I grabbed Rolando and said "Hey, help me out with a pose." I'm so glad I did because Rolando is a skilled instructor. He'd much rather instruct you than just set up the shot for you. He walked a group of us through a pose and helped us with some pointers on what to look for as tell tales that we had it set up right.

When it's your turn, be courteous, get your pose set up and then take about 20 shots working the pose slightly each time then let the next guy go. If you want to work with a model again then get back in line. Everyone will get plenty of shooting that way. It's also good because you get to see what other photographers are doing.

I think no matter where you are skills wise you will take something new away from Rolando's seminar. If not, he's got great lighting and great models. The worst that can happen is that you walk away with some great shots.

Regards,

David Adamic
