I can not tell you how much we appreciated Sarah at the Lancaster Supershoot. A wonderful model, strong work ethic and never once complained.

Thanks Sarah for all you did. See you in Vegas!!!

Pleeeease tell me that you and the other mentors are good enough to help me get shots like this! (I'll settle for close)

I'm so looking forward to Vegas.

See you in a week or so.

Just want to ask now while I'm thinking about it, I am getting old and will forget before Vegas.

When you shoot shots like this. What is your original framing in camera like? I've had issues with crops especially trying to hit a standard print size (5x7 or 8x10) because I have a tendency to crop in camera leaving myself no room in post. so when I see such tight crops I wonder if you bring these in from wider shots or frame like this up front.

Well, here are some from a true amateur. It was very hot so we found a shaddy corner and made the best of it. Critiques welcome.

Gary,

I am sorry I didn't respond sooner. I overlooked your question.

Anymore I don't shoot to cookie cut 5x7's and 8x10's. 5x7's can relatively crop ok on this format and not worry about space issues but you have to leave room for 8x10 crop. I have no general rule as it's always a guess and feel to what I think the client might want when I am shooting portraits. What is really hard to do is coming up with a full length and frame it to meet an 8x10. That takes a lot of space and if I am in the mind set I will shoot it on the highest resolution possible to give me the quality that I need to shoot farther back.

Since a lot of digital portait shooters shoot with the Fuji series, I am surprised fuji has not built in a grid in their viewfinder for us cookie cutting portrait shooters. Hmm, maybe I will suggest that to them......we'll talk shop soon!

Here are two more, I don't mean to hijack JT, but figured I'd keep this in one thread. As you can see some people can't stay away from her.

PS. Do I have a back focusing problem here?

Hard to be sure about the focus at this size, but it does appear the background is in focus and the faces aren't.
