Okay, all this fresnel stuff lately inspired me to do something i've been promising myself i was gonna do for a long time: marrying a monolight to a fresnel lens. so, i took an old, derelict mole-richardson 1k baby i had lying around--one that's seen better days--and gutted the wiring and the lamp fixture and removed the back door. i was then able to mount one of my novatron M300 monolights onto the mechanism that slides the lamp forward and backward inside the chassis relative to the lens. (which allows focusing of the light.) Voila! i got me a fresnel-monolight! one that's easily installed and removed with a thumbscrew. can't wait to try it out on a live subject.

here's some pics of my new light which I think I'm calling Frankenlight.... or maybe Fresnelenstein... i'm not sure which.

light-farts? i don't think so. i'll mount a reflector on the front of the lmonolight and that'll keep it from farting light out the ass-end.

i ain't a metalurgist, so i'm not sure. it is heavy but i dont think its cast iron heavy. and it's not aluminum... or as the brits say, "aluminium" (pronounced al-you-min-nee-um) i suppose its some kind of combo of sheet metal and some kind of pot metal for the can. but i could be wrong.
