image or a whole bunch of "I wish I didn't have to go through all of these" half-a$$ shots. It is fun to look into a set of captures and realize you have a very high percentage of great shots and one or two just jump off the screen. Taking care of business before you shoot, working with great talent, and paying attention to detail is such a rewarding experience.

I can't say enough about the makeup artist we had at Photo Intensive this past weekend, Chelsey Pickthorn from Portland Oregon is without a doubt one of the very finest MUA I have had the pleasure working with: Wow, what a trooper. And Dani? What can I say... she is Dani and she is very, very, very special.

that is a shadow of the lighting set up next to this demo set. I did this shot - including the light setup - in less than five minutes and there were lights already set up for two other shooting sets for the workshop... one of the snooted lights cast a shadow onto the cyc. Because it was a demo I left it, thought it was kind of interesting, you know, Helmut Newton'ish with mystery.

Hello Robert,

I was hoping you could tell me how you get the porcelain quality of skin. I have seen a couple of the images posted of the beautiful Dani from in other threads and there she does not appear with the same quality of skin. Are you using Photoshop to arrive at this or is heavier makeup or something involved in this image? I have always liked images with this porcelain look, but I have never been able to get them straight out of the camera.

Thanks for your help.

Dani rocks. Out loud. This is a superb image. Her skin looks like she could be an English Rose, but I've seen Dani's teeth and they're all there, and they're white, so she's not English, ergo it must be an awesome makeup job on top of a nuturally flawless complexion. A fine young lass. And I think the shadow is cool, too.

The more of these I see the more I'm looking forward to making the next workshop.

skin, in fact this image was really just a value shift and contrast increase as the original was shot in my typical "flat" method style. The only real Photoshop trickery in this image was removing the moiré from the fabric of her dress. Dani has beautiful skin and if she appears rough in other images then they are probably a bit underexposed or heavier in noise and amplitude of darker pixels within the normal texture of her skin.

Robert

This is Dani shot two years ago in Hollywood.
