Why play guessing games? Seems pretty obvious to me, a diffused on camera flash. The shadows are a dead giveaway. Not a ring light because the eyes don't have that god awful, demonic highlight.

Why not? Someone else started this not long ago, and it a good way to learn for some, others to have fun guessing, etc.

The obvious at times isn't. This is one of those cases. So far, no right answer.

I'm thinking if a Sinar Broncolor light mod, but I can't remember the name of it. Some sort of fresnel set far back behind camera position.

The shadow appears to be one created with photoshop due to how it surrounds your subject on all sides, and both the shadow and the red background have more grain or noise than the model so the light could even be from a white foam board reflector shot just about anywhere. My guess anyways.

Lots of good guess, but gevaudanbeast nailed it. I was trying to find ways to recreate a ringflash look without spending the 2K for a ring flash. I gave it some thought, and decided to try a big softbox. I mounted up the 30"x60" box on a stand and let the bottom of the box touch the floor. I then got in front of it with the camera about dead center, and shot with the model backed up against the seamless. I figured with the light source that big, my 195lbs in front of it won't make all that much difference, and it didn't. I'm glad most people that look at the image immediately think ringflash since that means it works.

Who's doing the next installment, Guess the Lighting 105?
