I love to oil paint B & W photos
with minimal colors.
Here's a sample of Liz Ashley.

Hope you like it.

I do. Is this an honest-to-goodness black & white silver print painted with real paints? I mean, if not, it's still a fine image, but if so, I gotta say, that's pretty darn cool to me, as it's something I've been wanting to try someday myself. Yep, it's a honest to goodness silver based painting with marshall oils.
I do the physical images in order to lift the colors for my digital pallet for future use.... Used to do this stuff all the time back in the 70's.

Very cool!!! This is what photoshop has done, when I first looked at it and red it, I thought it was all photoshopped. It never even dawned on me that it could have been done by hand.

Yes, it's done by hand... but it can be done by computer with the same
technique and skill and mediums.

I tend to used rag based paper because they absorbed the oils much
better. But since the medium is going away, I'm just preparing for
the digital color space and pallet.

I do paint with Painter IX, and you can set it on oils or watercolors and
it'll give the same result. ( see http://www.corel.com for info on Painter IX.)

Or you can print your images on paper that can accept Marshal oils and paint away to your hearts content.

My work is seamless, so either by computer or by hand, no one would know.

I think the image has a kind of Andy Warhol "feel" to the image. I like it. Any more you care to share?
best wishes,
gus

I'll see about doing another one- only this time- thru Painter.
As I mentioned before, it really doesn't matter the medium since
I work with them seamlessly.
No difference with appearance.
